Velvet Carpets
Velvet has seen a revival in recent years, and for good reason. This style oozes luxury and sophistication, which makes a velvet pile carpet the perfect option for your home. Unlike twist carpets, velvet varieties have a shorter, looser pile, making them best suited for living areas such as bedrooms and living rooms.
Our carpets are available in a range of colourways, including bold hues like red, blue, and green, as well as pared-back neutral and cream velvet carpets. Take a look through this collection and you're bound to find a carpet that matches your interior décor perfectly.
If you're not sure which colour to go for, just pop in store to see our selection of velvet carpets in person. We have approximately 1,000 samples available to take home with you, and our friendly team of experts are always on hand to answer any questions you may have.
We offer a free no-obligation measuring service, plus free fitting throughout Deeside, Flintshire, and the whole of North East Wales when you buy underlay with any carpet. Simply fill out our contact form or visit us at our Deeside store to arrange your booking.
What rooms suit Velvet Carpets
Velvet carpets are especially popular in bedrooms and quieter living spaces where comfort and softness underfoot matter most. Many customers choose velvet pile carpets to create a warmer, more luxurious feel compared to harder flooring surfaces or shorter utility-focused carpet styles.
In family homes across North Wales, we often recommend velvet carpets for master bedrooms, guest rooms, snug lounges, and low-traffic living areas where their elegant finish can really stand out.
Plush Carpets
- - Definition: Sometimes referred to as a velvet pile carpet. The fibres are sheared to the same height for a very dense, even surface.
- - Texture: Even softer and more uniform than Saxony; even more prone to showing footprints.
- - Feel: Extremely soft and cushiony - considered the most luxurious feel.
- - Finish: Very formal, elegant, often used in high-end settings or bedrooms.
All plush carpets are Saxony-style, but not all Saxony carpets are plush. Plush = a type of Saxony with shorter, denser, and more uniform fibres.
Do Velvet Carpets Show Footprints?
One thing many customers notice with velvet carpets is the appearance of footprints, vacuum lines, and shading across the pile. This is completely normal and actually part of what gives velvet carpets their luxurious, soft appearance.
Because the fibres are densely packed and smoothly finished, the pile naturally changes direction slightly as you walk across it or vacuum it, creating lighter and darker areas depending on how the light hits the surface.
in our showroom, many customers are surprised by how elegant this effect can look in person, particularly in bedrooms and cosy living spaces where velvet carpets create a softer, more premium feel underfoot.
For customers who prefer a more uniform appearance with fewer visible tracking marks, we may sometimes recommend twist pile carpets instead. However, for those prioritising comfort, warmth, and a luxurious finish, velvet carpets remain one of the most popular choices for modern homes.
