How Long Does Carpet Underlay Last?
A good-quality carpet underlay will commonly last around 10 to 15 years in normal domestic conditions and should usually remain effective for the useful life of the carpet. Supreme 11mm is a high-density PU underlay designed for long-lasting residential use, including busier areas of the home.
Actual lifespan will vary according to foot traffic, installation, moisture and the condition of the subfloor. Underlay should be replaced if it has become flattened, uneven, crumbly, damp or noticeably less supportive. Even when old underlay appears usable, fitting it beneath a new carpet may reduce comfort and cause the carpet to wear more quickly.
